I’m heartbroken.
I shouldn’t be this emotional with the situation, however on this occasion it feels oddly different. The experience I have amassed over my decade in the automotive industry has put me on a great racing line to deliver the best community-first, social-first experience to consumers. Knowing what to do and what not to do has helped change the brand’s identity and I’ve made something that isn’t ‘sexy’ into something extremely cool.
I love looking at the progress, looking back and seeing how I’ve changed a retailer into a lifestyle/community. I know - “it’s just a job” - but jobs like these, they mean much more to me when my life has been based around what I love to do outside of work. From launching new products and conducting Press and PR duties, to Partnership management and event coverage, I have loved every moment doing what I do.
But there's a reason why the windscreen is bigger than the rear view mirror; we need to look ahead.
I’ll get up again. I’ll find another role equally as good - if not better - and I will do what I’ve always set out to do: Create an amazing environment where my friends can benefit, make new friends, bring on partners that mean a lot to me and the brands and ultimately make cool work.
It just hurts right now.
But hey, I get to finally work on my own blog again so over the next few weeks you'll see me document some of my memories here, places I've been to, people I've met.
